Editors
need help - can you fill in some of the gaps? This
section is for peer review before publication or simple lists
from edtiors of material they know is missing.. As information
from section editors becomes available, it will be linked through
this page for examination by the general public. The editors may
use Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, or .rtf files. Most of
these will be translated to the more universally viewable PDF
files.
Can't open
PDF files? The PDF format is viewable with free software - Adobe
Acrobat Reader. If you don't
have this, you can download
it for free here.
This is your
opportunity to report directly to the individual editor with corrections,
unlisted material and so forth. Information is already needed
and more is anticipated soon, so it is important that you check

a copy of this image
release (PDF format) Thank you.

Database
Entry Help Needed! Your editorial team
has begun a monumental project that will carry well past the CSA
Catalog for the benefit of future Confederate postal historians
and others. One of our goals is to create a database that will
include such details as the addressee on covers and provenance,
as well as the franking and markings. This could be of great benefit
to not only postal historians, but genealogists and general historians
in the future. We anticipate making it available online at some
time in the future. Since your editorial board is made up of three
of the members of the Authentication Service, the logical place
to start was with the records of the Authentication Service. This
database will be in the custody of the CSA Authentication
Service in order to better serve future generations. We already
have a volunteer who has begun work on this, but it is a very
large task. Multiple people could be working on this project using
the same software and then the main volunteer could import the
work into one unified body. This is a CSA
Authentication Service project at the moment and will not go past
the input of Authentication records until after the CSA Catalog
is published. The catalog is our primary focus at this time. Contact
Jerry Palazolo if you would like to help.
Slide
Cataloging Help Needed! Along with the
database project, another companion project is the cataloging
of the thousands of slides with a specific searchable formula.
This project is one
of the primary sources of CSA Catalog
illustrations as well as
a rich source of information for
the database. It will also eventually
be in the custody of the CSA Authentication
Service, but is in the CSA Catalog editorial board hands for use
there until the catalog is finished. We are in the process of
having a professional slide converting service change and save
several large collections of slides from major collections to
digital format. The problem is that they have generic generated
names, i.e., scan0001, scan 0002, and so forth. We need them cataloged
with meaningful searchable names. This
is critical to timely catalog production.
